Lahti was branded as ‘The Business City’, a hub of entrepreneurs and innovation right before the 1990s recession. Lahti has since struggled to recover from the effects of the recession, but is still referred to, sometimes ironically, as The Business City.

Lahti currently has the highest unemployment rate of all the big cities of Finland. This project looks at the employment situation in Lahti today, it’s history as a centre of industry, and the issues facing it’s incoming workforce.
