Utö Utö – an experimental publication made over 48 hours on the southernmost archipelago island of Finland.
The imagery – presented as a non-linear narrative, with no beginning or end – builds on the story of SS Park Victory, an American ship that sank just off of the Utö lighthouse on Christmas night, 1947. Ten members of the crew died, and the survivors made their way ashore, helped by the residents of the island.
The text inside the publication comes from the American hymn ‘Brightly Beams our Father’s Mercy’, which tells the story of a boat trying to reach a harbour amid a treacherous storm.
